Double flap Fun Fold card - Fancy Fold blog hop

Only 10 days away from a new annual catalogue and a colour refresh, so much happening in the world of Stampin' Up! at the moment.

I am very excited about this colour refresh. It is sad to say goodbye to some of our favourites, but there are a number of returning favourites - i have used some on this month's fancy fold and some brand new colours. You can see what the full colour collection will look like after 1 May 2023 below:

The in-colours are very different from anything we have had before, so that is also a bit exciting to work with. Hopefully they will all arrive shortly so i can start creating with them.

This month's fancy fold is a Double Flap Fun Fold card, and we again used one of Dawn's videos for tutorial and inspiration.

I decided to use some of the DSP that is just about to retire, as i had not even opened the pack...., but i also wanted to show that you don't always have to pair your DSP with the coordinating stampset or bundle, you can mix and match.

My card starts with a 10" x 5.5" card base in Berry Burst - a returning favourite and i still have the old inkpad and some cardstock, so that was easy. It is scored on the 10" side at 1.5" at one end and at 4.25" at the other end. I then layered with Lemon Lime Twist - another returning favourite where i had the inkpad and cardstock. These 2 colours are great and go so well together.

The DSP i used, is the 'By the Bay' dsp. It is beautiful, with gold foil through on one side of the papers. It is obviously a beach theme in the paper, but not all of them are strictly beach or seaside and can easily be used with other products.

On the Basic White square i ink-blended Polished Pink and Berry Burst ink and left a bit of white at the top. I added a bit of gold leafing to the blended (thanks for the tip Vicki Boucher 😃) and stamped the trio of flowers from the Sweet Citrus stampset in Polished Pink. I added a few droplets of water and some Wink of Stella. Such a pretty background.

For the citrus, I placed a piece of watercolour paper into the Sweet Citrus hybrid embossing folder along with the die. This embossed and cuts out 4 citruses in one pass through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss. I then water coloured the citrus with very diluted Lemon Lime Twist ink for segments and Parakeet Party and Granny Apple Green on the peel.

For the flowers i stamped these with Versamark on the Watercolour paper and lightly coloured them with diluted Polished Pink ink and then a dab of Berry Burst ink in the middle of the bigger flowers. Then i cut them out with the die.

I punched the 'greenery' out of Vellum cardstock with the Bough Punch and stamped part of the 'Enjoy the sweeter things in life' greeting from the Sweet Citrus stampset with versamark on Night of Navy cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder. I added it all to the little notecard front along with some Parakeet Party metalic woven ribbon.

On the inside of the notecard i stamp the remainder of the greeting from the front in Night of Navy ink and also stamped the trio of flowers in Polished Pink.

On the inside of the bigger card i again stamped the flowers and another greeting from the stampset.

I really enjoyed making this card, the fold is fun and it is often fun to create a card front in a different size than usual and the notecard front is only 3.5" x 3.5", so quite a bit smaller than my usual card front size.

I also really enjoyed making this card front. This is actually a case of a card a made on Thursday for something else. This was a case of a card by Vicki Bucher. Vicki used blues and purples on her background and purples on her citrus. I used Lemon Lime Twist, Parakeet Party, Granny Apple Green, and Shaded Spruce for my background and did the citrus in Polished Pink, Berry Burst and a tiny bit of Blackberry Bliss.

I hope you give this fold a try and hop around to check out the rest of the hop participants.
