Shaker Card - Totally Techniques Blog Hop

I have joined another design team doing monthly blog hops, this one is the Totally Techniques Design Team and I am super excited to be doing a monthly technique, and most likely learn a few things along the way.

This month we are doing shaker cards.

I love a shaker card. It is super fun and so easy to make. Kids especially love these, but adults do as well. Always fun with a card that is a bit interactive just like last week's fancy fold wiper card.

This card meant that I finally got the Share a Milkshake stamp set and dies out. I have had that bundle sitting on the shelf for quite a while, but never gotten around to playing with it, so now was the chance.

I started with a piece of Bubble Bath card stock which I stamped with the little hearts and cherry from the stamp set with Bubble Bath ink to create a background. I also cut the milkshake glass out from this piece of cardstock. On a piece of Basic White cardstock i stamped the 'pattered' glas stamp with Bubble Bath ink.

I stuck a piece of window sheet to the back of the piece of Bubble Bath cardstock to cover the cut out and added the foam adhesive strips all around the back along the cut out edge of the glass. Make sure there are no gaps. I added some Love Silver Sequins to the stamped piece of white cardstock and placed the Bubble Bath piece on top ensuring to center the cut out glass on top. I pressed down firmly to ensure none of the sequins will escape.

I then stamped the cream/icecream top in Versamark and Sweet Sorbet ink. I then added clear embossing powder and heat set it.

Dipping in Versamark first and then straight into a classic ink gives you a bit longer to add embossing powder. If you use the classic ink only, you have to be super quick, but it can be done. I then cut it out with the matching die.

I did the same with the Celebrate! stamp. I used the cut out cream to cut out the Celebrate! The die cuts a little slit to place the spoon or straw in, and I didn't want that on my sentiment.

Finally I cut out the spoon in silver foil and adhered it all. I then adhered this Bubble Bath piece to a piece of Basic White cardstock which I again adhered to a Sweet Sorbet cardbase.

And that was it.

I hope you will hop around and check out the rest of the design team.

Easy Wiper Pop Up Card - Fancy Fold blog hop

It is May and autumn seems to finally have arrived in Cairns. A balmy 28 degrees celcius (82F) and should get down to 15 (60) tonight so we might be able to finally turn of the aircon overnight. Being Danish I really struggle sleeping when the temperature is over 20 (70). Hopefully we have a long winter this year, often it is only about a week of winter in the tropics :-)

This month's fancy fold is a wiper pop up card. I have never made a wiper card before so this was a fun challenge. We used this tutorial by Jacque Williams at StampHappyNZ, and it is super quick and easy.

Here is the card when closed and folds flat to fit in an standard envelope

And here it is open, where it can stand up

I again pulled out some of the new core colours - Pecan Pie, Bubble Bath and returning favourites Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist along with Crushed Curry.

I also used one of our new bundles, which is part of a full suite - the Fresh as a Daisy suite. The stamp set and dies are called Cheerful Daisies and they certainly are cheerful.

My base card is Pecan Pie. I stamped the base card with the smaller daisy in Versamark, which just gives a darker shade of the Pecan Pie.

For the focal point I used the 3 layers of dies to create the daisies. The full flower layer is cut in Basic White, the next in Berry Burst and the top layer in Basic White. The bottom layer has been sponged with Crushed Curry ink and the top layer with Bubble Bath.

I also added some greenery which I cut out of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.

I cut the label from the dies in Basic White and stamped the greeting in Pecan Pie. I thought the card needed something more at the top, so I stamped one of the full flowers in Bubble Back and Berry Burst and added along with some more greenery.

Finally, I flicked some Wink of Stella and added some extra to the 3 flowers at the bottom.

I hope you give this fold a try and hop around to check out the rest of the hop participants. Gina is next, so hop on over and check out her creation :-)
