It has been a while since I have taken part in one of these home décor style blog hops. But I am hoping to get back into it now.
One day I went
through Spotlight (craft store) I saw they had big packs of canvasses on
special, so I picked up 40 canvasses for $50AUD, what I bargain.
But then I had
to think of something to do with them. Well, the kids had already spotted them
and painted 10 of them, so better be quick :-)
I decided to do
something with the hot air balloons from the Lift me up stamp set and Up and
Away dies. They are beautiful and would be perfect decorations for a kid’s
room, so off I went.
First, I sprayed
the canvas with water ensuring it was completely wet. Then I used the aqua painter
to water colour Balmy Blue ink on.
When the ink had
dried, I used the negative image of a cloud die cut out and filled the void
with Shimmery White Embossing Paste and added a few clouds to the canvas.
I stamped the
two balloon images in Melon Mambo on Whisper White cardstock and cut them out
with the matching dies.
I then stamped
a greeting from an old retired stamp set in Melon Mambo on Whisper White
cardstock and cut it out with the medium balloon die. I cut another medium balloon
out of Melon Mambo cardstock and one of the large detailed balloons out of
Whisper White.
I attached the
cut balloons around the canvas, some using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and some
using Stampin’ Dimensionals to add a bit of dimension.
I think it
turned into a cute little décor item, which would be perfect for any little
girl’s room :-)
If you like the
balloons – stamps and dies – you better get in quick. These will retire with
the current catalogue on 3 June 2019, but may sell out before, so make sure to
order them as soon as possible :-)
